NAS Member Robert Paquette Receives Award for His Defense of Academic Freedom

National Association of Scholars member Robert L. Paquette received the Jeane Jordan Kirkpatrick Prize for Academic Freedom on March 7, 2014. The distinguished award carries a $10,000 stipend to the honoree, and was presented at the 2014 Conservative Political Action Conference and Ronald Reagan Banquet in Washington, D.C.

Professor Paquette is a Professor of History at Hamilton College and a co-founder of the Alexander Hamilton Institute for Western Civilization (AHI). He is an expert on conservative thought and an advocate for freedom of expression on college campuses, and he is the author of many books and articles including Sugar is Made with Blood: the Conspiracy of La Escalera and the Conflict Between Empires over Slavery in Cuba, and Women, Culture and Faith: Selected Writings of Elizabeth Fox-Genovese.

The National Association of Scholars congratulates Robert Paquette on his commitment to academic freedom and his defense of a Western Civilization curriculum.
