Membership

Who May Join?

NAS membership is open to current and former college and university faculty members, administrators, and trustees; current graduate students; and independent scholars who share our basic principles. NAS also offers other forms of affiliation for teachers and undergraduate students.

Is It Dangerous to join?

It can be. We recognize that graduate students and untenured faculty members run a risk if they join an organization that is famous for challenging campus orthodoxies. So we won't tell your colleagues -- or your dean, and we’ll mail Academic Questions to your home if you wish.

Is joining NAS worth the risk? That’s a decision you must make for yourself -- and something you should consider the next time you bite your tongue in a department meeting for fear of the consequences of expressing what you really think.

How Do I Join?

The membership form requests information needed to register, renew membership in the NAS, or make a donation. Simple PayPal steps allow secure use of Mastercard, Visa, and American Express.

Here is a form to print and send via the U.S. Post Office, if you prefer to pay dues with check or money order.

All present and former university or college faculty members, administrators and trustees, current graduate students, and independent research scholars are eligible for membership. Membership is renewable annually and includes a one-year subscription to 'Academic Questions.
