Membership for Teacher Associates

The NAS has long allowed friends of higher education reform to affiliate with us as associates. We would now like to extend a special invitation to teachers to participate in the life of our organization in this capacity.

Although the NAS works in higher education reform, we recognize that teachers help lay its foundations, and that if education is ever to become higher, it is crucial that these foundations be well-built.

In addition to corralling classrooms full of rowdy kids, many teachers labor for core curriculum, high grading standards, and intellectual diversity. Their work not only strengthens each rising crop of students, but also affects the university as a whole.

Many grade school instructors devote their lives to improving education; so, too, has the NAS. The National Association of Scholars is a diverse organization spanning political affiliations, religions, academic disciplines, and 46 states – united by a common pursuit of integrity in education.

Why should you become an NAS Teacher Associate?

  • Gain a nationwide community of those who care about what you care about: reasoned scholarship, serious curriculum, academic freedom, science and the humanities.
  • Find and meet others in your region that share your allegiance to improving education; join our growing network.
  • Be NAS’s eyes: tell or write about what you’ve observed in education, both specific stories and general trends.
  • Receive the National Association of Scholars quarterly journal Academic Questions.
  • Keep the bigger picture in mind.
