More on Sen. Leahy's VAWA Amendment

Glenn Ricketts

As I had hoped, Vermont Sen. Pat Leahy's proposed codification of OCR's outrageous new "guidelines" for college sexual harassment case procedures has been getting some close public scrutiny and deservedly scathing criticism. In this piece, the indefatigable Hans Bader of the Competitive Enterprise Institute weighs in, while Caroline May follows up here at the Daily Caller.

As long-time NAS member Christina Hoff Sommers demonstrated in her 1994 book - Who Stole Feminism - the Violence Against Women Act was already quite problematical, especially with its elastic and subjective definition of sexual assault (see pp. 224-225). If VAWA is re-authorized with Sen. Leahy's amendment included, it will be a whole lot worse.
