Fall Internships Available at NAS

NAS

NAS is now looking to hire two interns for the fall 2017 semester: a development assistant and a communications assistant. Both internships are paid hourly for 15-30 hours per week. College upperclassmen and recent graduates living in the New York area are encouraged to apply. For more information, please write to Rachelle Peterson at Peterson@nas.org.

DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

Reports to
Controller

Key areas of responsibilities

  • Process donations and memberships
  • Record data in fundraising database
  • Collaborate with NAS staff on development projects
  • Draft thank you notes to foundations and major donors, draft other correspondence
  • Correspond with donors and members regarding issues about payments
  • Process spreadsheet requests for staff members
  • Design materials for development mailings, including reply forms for donations

Qualifications

  • Desire to further NAS’s mission to improve higher education
  • Strong writing and editing ability
  • Attention to detail
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good research skills
  • Creativity and initiative
  • Professionalism in correspondence
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Basic design skills

Length of internship

This is a one-semester, fall internship. Start and end dates are flexible but generally run from late August to mid-December.

Hours
15-30 hours/week

Pay
$15/hour

Manage NAS website content and communications with NAS members

  • Managing website content
  • Managing social media
  • Creating email newsletter updates
  • Drafting correspondence
  • Basic image editing
  • Assisting with mailing projects
  • Writing brief articles on issues in higher education
  • Editing guest articles
  • Assisting with research reports

This is a one-semester, fall internship. Start and end dates are flexible but generally run from late August to mid-December.
