Why It Matters

Many federal government’s policymakers and permanent bureaucrats are committed to transforming civics education into action civics and radical social justice education. Citizens must inform policymakers of the danger posed by the federal government imposing radical action civics on the states or bribing them into compliance.

Subject Line: The Civics Secures Democracy Act Supports Radical Action Civics

Dear Representative/Senator ________,

As an [educator / parent / position at _____ member organization], and as your constituent, I am writing to inform you about the Civics Secures Democracy Act [HR 1814] [S. 879]. The Civics Secures Democracy Act pretends to support American history and civic education, but really provides support for action civics, which provides vocational training for radical activism.

I urge you to read Stanley Kurtz ‘s article “‘Action Civics,’ Replaces Citizenship with Partisanship” (https://americanmind.org/memo/action-civics-replaces-citizenship-with-partisanship/). I also urge you to read Kurtz’s “The Greatest Education Battle of Our Lifetime” (https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/the-greatest-education-battle-of-our-lifetimes/) and Peter Wood’s “Why We Need a Civics Alliance” (https://www.nas.org/blogs/article/nas-announces-the-civics-alliance). These articles explain the real nature of action civics and the true consequences of the Civics Secures Democracy Act.

I want to preserve civics education and I know you do also. You should know that the Civics Secures Democracy Act trains students in radical community organizing instead of educating them about civics.
