NAS Board Member Weighs in on Michigan Civil Rights Case

Gail Heriot

Gail Heriot is professor of law at the University of San Diego a member of the United States Civil Rights Commission, and a supporter of California's proposition 209, which banned the use of racial quotas in that state.  She is also a member of the  boards of directors of the NAS and of its California affiliate, the CAS.  In the article linked below, she parses the recent decsion by the 6th circuit U.S. Court of Appeals invalidating a similar voter-approved measure in Michigan:
