I’m pleased to introduce the newest member of the National Association of Scholars staff, Dion J. Pierre, who joined NAS as research associate on April 18, 2017.

Dion is a 2016 graduate of Hofstra University, where he studied under Leslie Feldman and co-taught a course on political theory from Plato to Hobbes. After encountering the writings of Irving Kristol, Allan Bloom, and Christopher Lasch during his undergraduate years, he was inspired to become a defender of Western civilization and liberal education. Later, as a Public Interest Fellow, he worked with Walter Russell Mead as a research assistant.

Dion will lead NAS’s research project on the rise of racial self-segregation on American college campuses. He brings to his work great energy and love of liberal education.

Here’s what Dion had to say about beginning at NAS:

"It’s difficult to articulate what an incredible honor it is to join the National Association of Scholars team. Throughout NAS’s storied history, a steadfast commitment to the pursuit of truth and an impeccable reputation for scholarly excellence has kept it at the forefront of the fight for the preservation of liberal education and the civil rights of all Americans. I intend to do all I can in the service of this noble mission."

Please join me in welcoming Dion to the NAS staff. He may be reached at [email protected].
